Poketo: Upcycled handbags.....

I want to create accessories from discarded clothing. These handbags from Poketo are very beautiful constructed. I love the way the designer has created some bags that are obviously created using garments like the shirt tote but others look completely new.

These bags are upcycled from discarded street banners.

SHE: Sound recording furniture...

I love this furniture designed by the design duo SHE from Norway. The honeycomb structure of the fabric they use reminds me of smocking. The fabric they use is fabric used in sound recording studios.

Helen Amy Murray: Hand cut leather chairs ....

Helen Amy Murray studied at Chelsea College of Art and Design where I am currently studying. She creates stunning pieces of furniture that she renovates and covers in leather that she has cut into by hand. The patterns she cuts are so intricate that they look as though they have been done by machine when in fact they have been produced with her very skilled hands.

Gary Harvey: Upcycled Gowns

Since writing about Eco Chic in my Degree dissertation I have been a fan of Gary Harvey, his gowns are so obviously made from recycled garments and bags but they look truly stunning.

More Shirt Recycling : Alexander Wang

I had seen some of Alexander Wang's work before researching for my Masters but never seen garments as beautiful as these:

These outfits are so sleek and smart even though they are made from recycled garments, I love Wang's use of muted colours.

This jacket has a street wear feel which I love;

This Waistcoat belt is very simple but such a good idea.

Shirt Recycling

For my Masters written paper I am focusing on the different ways that shirts have and are being recycled. Here are some lovely examples of recycled shirt dresses.  The Striped dress above is from  http://www.thefashionablehousewife.com/08/2009/do-you-recycle-clothes/.
